I have answered the question of "Do you have any good ideas and games for teaching the time" about a million times, so it's time to post!!!
Question
I can't find in my notes what I like to work with in French: a gap creator that creates not only gaps but sihlouettes for words. (dont remember how you call this). Answer What you’re looking for is a word shape generator, e.g. https://www.abcteach.com/free_word_shape_form.php or https://www.subjectcoach.com/englishworksheetgenerator or https://tools.atozteacherstuff.com/printable-word-shapes-worksheets/. Unfortunately, I have never been able to find a gap fill / cloze generator that also includes the word shape. There are plenty of cloze/gapfill tools where you can specify the word length (one dash per letter), with the first letter, scrambled, etc…. like here http://random-idea-english.blogspot.com/2011/07/tools-gapfill-generator.html or http://l.georges.online.fr/tools/cloze.html but none that I have been able to find that can put the word shape in the gap. Some of the wordshape tools allow you to create an entire sentence as a wordshape, which might be useful if you are doing something like “J’aime les fruits. Je n’aime pas les legumes. J’adore les oranges.” Where the kids are informed that the sentences are limited to like/dislike and e.g. foods. In the past, I have just written the text in Word, used the abcteach or atozteacher stuff tool to make wordshapes for specific words in my text, then copy/pasted the wordshape into the Word text.
?? One of my students wants do a project called ‘Designing a wildlife park’. It’s in a Macmillan textbook they are using in her school. She asked me about online research tools suitable for kids to find information about animals as well as suitable English (picture) dictionaries for 3rd graders.
